We are so proud to be a part of the community surrounding Johnson Elementary. We know that you entrust your children to us 8 hours a day every day, and that is a responsibility we don’t take lightly. Please know that the Johnson community is one that every Johnson employee values, loves, and respects deeply. Our purpose is to grow and care for your students like we would our own.
As we turn to 2025 I want to highlight a few celebrations from the first half our year:
We saw the highest number of students redesignating from MLE programming, meaning they are performing on grade level in both Spanish (their native language) and in English (their second language) and no longer require extra support to grow in English
We saw interim results that were above the district average in grades 4 and 5 for math and literacy. These results were some of the highest results for a Title I school in our “Collaborative”
We saw a 7% increase from last year in our BESS screeners which is our Social Emotional Screener, which shows are students are happy, supported, and feel safe at Johnson.
Our attendance is up 2% from last year, so thank you for helping make sure your student is at school regularly learning and growing.
We are averaging over 80 students a day in our Boys and Girls Club and students are excited to continue their day with enrichment and STEM activities after their school day ends.
Our community hub has served over 400 families from SouthWest Denver in the first semester. We believe as a central part of the community, it is important to support all parts of our community, not just our students. We know that when are families and community are being supported that translates to success for students, families, and the overall Southwest Denver community.
We are excited to see what the second semester holds, and know that we will continue to grow and build on the great work that has happened across the building this year!
