    After School

    After School Opportunities at Johnson Elementary School 2007-2008

    Important Note!!! Students with “Caring Majority High Fives” behavior are eligible for after school programs. Students must demonstrate a focus on learning, be kind and safe, and be responsible and respectful. Once a student is registered in a program, they may not switch programs. All options require parent/student registration forms and emergency information. All programs are free of charge and all students must attend their program regularly. Thank you.

    Option 1: LEAP Program (Currently there are no openings in this program.)
    • Program began in the Fall and continues through May 16, 2008. Parents must fill out the LEAP form sent home in the Thursday folder and return it to the school’s main office. Parents will then receive a phone call letting them know when their child/children can start.
    • Serves students in grades 1st-5th.
    • Only 80 spots available!
    • Students may not have more than 5 absences or they will be dropped from the program.  Enrichment programming includes arts and culture, recreation, and more!
    • LEAP hours are from 3pm-5pm.
    • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday activities are homework help and enrichment.
    • Tuesday and Thursday activities are homework help, enrichment, and academic tutoring.

    Option 2: Supplemental Service Providers (SSP) and Lights on After School(LOAS) *If you are interested in Option 2, please sign up in room 107B*
    • Program begins in February and ends in May
    • Serves 1st-5th grade student
    • Students who participate in this option will have academic tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays offered through either Chancellor or Education Station
    • Lights on After School will service students on Mondays and Fridays with cultural, recreational, and scientific enrichment activities
    • CLOUT (science enrichment) will be offered to 4th and 5th grade students ONLY on Wednesdays. Space is limited. SSP Details
    • Chancellor is from 3:00pm until 4:45pm while Education Station is from 3:00pm until 4:15pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
    • Began in November
    • Limited number of students
    • Parents register through DPS District Office LOAS Details
    • Will begin in conjunction with SSP in February
    • Children in SSP will have first priority for this program
    • There are openings in this program. See Registration Interest Form attached. Space is limited
    • Enrichment on Mondays and Fridays
    • 1st and 2nd graders will have enrichment
    • 3rd -5th graders can choose Dance on Fridays (limit 25) or other enrichment activities

    Option 3: Whiz Kids Tutoring Program
    • Began in October
    • Tuesdays from 3:15pm until 4:45pm at Brentwood Methodist Church.
    • Focus on math and reading skills
